People who don't think Nurse Mildred Ratched's evil you have problems :P One thing at the meetings its the same thing day after day after day no progress made just the same conversation she likes to get the patients fighting one on one. When she was having that meeting with Dr. Spivey she wanted control, and even tho she new that McMurphy was faking the whole thing she wanted to keep him on the ward so she could break him in, not so she could help him! The thing is that she thinks shes helping the men. And the main thing why people thinks shes evil is that she drove Billy into suicide. She try's to tell the men "Lets try to get on with are day" I am not shocked at all that McMurphy tried to kill her. Even though I have seen this movie 20 times, I'm always clenching my fists hoping that he wins into killing her.

This movie is absolutely wonderful. It has made me appreciate how precious my life and freedom is. Very beautiful and heart touching movie. Highly recommend. God, there has never been a woman in cinema who's look I have hated more even when she's not looking like anything or saying anything. I've encountered a few nurse ratcheds in the corporate world. they're usually single. and I'm very sure, bitter.

The book is actually told from the perspective of the Chief. I love this movie, and hated Nurse Ratched. Louise Fletcher was fantastic in this role. I never saw nurse Ratched as a demonization of women, but a representation of the feminist movement's liberation from gender roles and the lack thereof for men. That's actually a very big theme in the film as these men are all seen as being lesser for not meeting women's (Nurse Ratched) perception of what they should be therefore being worthless.

The acting in this movie is just absolutely wonderful and beautiful i love this movie so much. I have to confess, it is so refreshing to see a good novel adapted into a film so well! Jack Nicholson is soooo good as McMurphy. oh Lord above, I love this! This is one of my favourite novels and this has given me faith that the film isn't always terrible! So much love... Although the casting of Ratched isn't great, but I guess you can't have everything. Everything else is spot on (except McMurphy is supposed to be ginger, but I can't think of anyone better than Nicholson to play him so I'm not too bothered. So much freakin' love for this.
